Academy Award®-winning actress Cate Blanchett ("Carol", "Blue Jasmine") stars in 13 different characters - from a punk band singer, housewife, widow, worker, scientist to a homeless man to collide the most radical ideas of the twentieth century with the surrounding us reality. Uncompromising, hypnotic and cinematic cinema directed by Julian Rosefeldt, one of the leading contemporary artists.
Each of the characters played by Blanchett displays on the screen fragments of famous manifestos by writers and directors, painters and dancers, sculptors and poets, philosophers and architects: von Trier, Marx, Apollinaire, Malewicz and many, many others. In his performance, Blanchett not only demonstrates the ultimate act of acting, but also tests his power with the heroes of the twentieth century prophecies that Rosefeldt places in often amusing contexts. Christopha Krauss's camera portrays postindustrial landscapes, squeezes into a narrow block in the block, dives into the sterile interiors of research institutes, into the darkness of the balangi on the concert backstage, flows into the blue of the television studio. He also looks to the bright class where Cate Blanchett gives the children a lesson in film manifestos.
Performed by prominent visual artist Julian Rosefeldt "Manifesto" was presented first in the gallery as a screened in thirteen screens. Today begins his next life, this time as a movie, proving that some ideas are like a depot grenade and become the root of rebellion. Others wind up and become ridiculous, yet others have the universal power to awaken from lethargy and sharpen their gaze on the world.
Impressive is the scale of this artistic undertaking, shot with comparable vigor as Matthew Barney's "Cremaster" series. sCREENS
